Sleep Disorders Center
Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Care’s Sleep Disorders Center at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites provides testing and treatment for sleep apnea, insomnia and narcolepsy.
Facilities and Amenities
The hotel room is more conducive to sleep and less intimidating than the hospital environment for patients. The atmosphere and surroundings help the patient relax leading to sleep which resembles the patient's sleep at home. One of the two sleep rooms is handicapped accessible. A registered sleep technician monitors the sleeping patient from another room.
Just like any other Holiday Inn Express, patients may check in at 3:00 pm on the day of their test and take advantage of the hotel’s amenities such as the pool and hot tub. Patients’ families may stay in a separate, discounted hotel room and enjoy time before and after the testing with their loved ones. The Sleep Disorders Center provides a safe secure location with easy access and convenient parking just off I-70 and close to local restaurants.
The Sleep Experts
The Sleep Disorders Center uses a three-step process to evaluate, diagnose and treat patients. First, a patient may be scheduled for evaluation with Fayette County Hospital's Specialty Clinic or may be directly referred by the patient's primary care physicians.
Testing is scheduled during the patient’s normal sleep periods – day or night. The registered sleep technicians uses diagnostic monitoring devices to evaluate the patient's sleep. A physician experienced with sleep disorders and treatment will review all tests.
The patient (whether a Fayette County Hospital Special Clinic or directly referred patient) will have a post-study appointment with a sleep specialist to review the patient's study.
Sleep studies are considered outpatient procedures and are covered under most medical plans. You may contact your insurance company directly for specific coverage amounts and if pre-certification is required.
Beauty Sleep is Not a Myth
During sleep there is a natural process of healing and restoration. For an adult, getting 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night is essential to looking your best , feeling great and being healthy. Disturbed sleep has been linked to high blood pressure, depression and heart problems. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration conservatively estimates that over 100,000 motor vehicle accidents are caused per year by drowsy driving, with more than 71,000 injuries and 1550 fatalities. Anything that decreases your sleep increases your risk. And people with untreated obstructive sleep apnea have up to seven times the risk.
If you are having difficulty sleeping or experience other related problems on a regular basis, Fayette County Hospital’s Sleep Disorders Center can help. The Center’s staff can help solve many problems, including:
