ONLINE CHECK STUBS—WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK!
Recently, an employee made the following suggestion:
“Start posting our paychecks on the computer instead of wasting paper and postage. This will save money for FCH. Highland hospital does this and said it saves them thousands a year.”
It is possible with Paychex (the company that prints our paychecks) to allow employees online access. This feature is a secure, internet-based system that:
· Allows employees to view and print their own payroll check stubs and W-2s.
· Provides simple, easy-to-use, 24/7 access from work, home, or wherever it’s convenient for the employee.
· Sends employees an e-mail every time pay documents and tax documents are available for viewing and printing.
· Allows access to five paycheck calculators for creating “what if” scenarios. These help employees make financial-planning decisions regarding their pay, including possible changes in deductions and retirement plan contributions.
If we opted for this feature it would save FCH<C $6500 per year.
It is intended that an employee education room will be set-up on the second floor. The
room will be equipped with computers for employees to use to access the MSDS program and the Ellucid Policy Manual Program. Employees could use those computers to access Paychex online as well.
Please note that live paychecks (versus direct deposit stubs) would still be printed.
Before making this decision the Administrative Staff would like employee feedback. Please place your comments in the white box in the HR Closet next to the timeclock no later than March 14th.

PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS
All employees should receive their annual Performance Appraisal before the end of March.
Once again your manager will be asking you 5 questions about how they can better support you. Please review the questions below, and be thinking about them.
1. What do you feel have been your greatest achievements/successes during the past year?
2. What has not gone as well as you had hoped?
3. What are the two areas of your job responsibilities that you enjoy most?
4. What two areas of your job responsibilities are your least favorite?
5. What can I do better to support you and assure your continued success?
At this time, MERIT INCREASES will not be associated with the employee performance appraisal. It will be communicated at a later date if and when Merit Increases will be given.
If you have any questions, contact HR.
Congratulations

The Personnel Policy Manual has been updated with the following changes effective 2/15/2010.
5-07 On Call Pay & 5-12 Shift Bonus. If an employee is scheduled to work, but then sent home or called off due to Low Census that employee is not eligible for Shift Bonus or Call Back Pay if they are called in to work during that shift.
5-11 Overtime and Non-Exempt employee compensation. No changes were made to our pay practices; however, the policy was re-worded for clarification.
7-20 Telephone/Cellular Phone Use. Cellular phones are not to be used by employees or volunteers while interacting with patients, visitors, or customers at any time. While working cell phones are permitted for business use only. Individuals whose jobs require them to be reachable may use cell phones in lieu of a beeper/pager.
