Greenville Family Medicine Practice Joins Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Care

February 24, 2017 - James Goggin, M.D. and Andrew Goggin, M.D. of Greenville Family Medicine Practice will join Fayette County Hospital & Long Term Care, effective April 1, 2017.

On April 1, 2017, Drs. James and Andrew Goggin, along with their employees in Greenville Family Medicine Practice, located at 308 West College Street, Greenville, will become members of the staff of Fayette County Hospital & Long Term Care, located at 650 West Taylor Street in Vandalia.

Dr. James Goggin began his practice in Greenville in 1964 and added an office in Mulberry Grove in 1965. He continued to practice in both locations until the year 2000, when he consolidated them into its current Greenville location. His son, Andrew, joined the practice in 2003 and has been actively working with his father to continue providing primary care since then. As the complexities and uncertainty of the business side of health care continue to mount, the ongoing ability to successfully run an independent primary care practice often becomes a growing challenge for many physicians. Consequently, many physicians across the country elect to become part of something larger, and they have choices as to what they feel can work the best for them.

Dr. Andrew Goggin stated, "After years of reflection and witnessing the direction of medicine, I concluded that it is crucial to be part of a strong team to provide full health care to our patients. After talking with many patients about their experiences, seeing the changes in their facility, and meeting the other team members, I made the carefully considered decision that Fayette County Hospital was the best place with which to partner. And, we are very pleased to start the next chapter of serving our patients in Bond and Fayette counties with a partner of down-to-earth local people committed to our communities and local health care delivery."

The medical office will remain in its current location at 308 W. College Street in Greenville. Dr. James Goggin, Dr. Andrew Goggin, and Kathleen Johnson, Family Nurse Practitioner, will continue to practice there. Their patients will continue to contact the office in the same way they have done so. According to Dr. Andrew Goggin, "Patients have many places to receive services, testing, and specialist services. They will continue to make informed decisions as they use services at Fayette County Hospital and other hospital networks just like they have in the past."

Fayette County Hospital Chief Executive Officer, Greg Starnes, states "The addition of Drs. James and Andrew Goggin, along with their team, adds more high quality medical providers to our medical community and enables us to improve the availability and quality of services we provide to the citizens of Fayette and Bond counties.
